Details: Crossing the suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River, the trail heads east along the bank of the roaring Langtang Khola. Ascend through lush bamboo, oak, and rhododendron forests, passing small settlement stops such as Pahiro and Bamboo for lunch. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including gray langur monkeys and birds. A steady climb through Rimche leads to Lama Hotel for dinner and an overnight teahouse stay.

Distance & Duration: ~21 km | 6–7 hours trek

Highlights: Views of Langtang Lirung (7,224m), Ghoda Tabela checkpost, memorial prayer walls, rebuilt Langtang Village.

Details: The day starts with a gradual climb through hemlock and rhododendron woodlands toward Ghoda Tabela (Horse Stable), where the dense tree line gives way to an expansive alpine valley. Walk past traditional Tamang villages like Langtang and Mundu, featuring mani walls and chortens. As you approach Kyanjin Gompa, the terrain widens into high mountain pastures with dramatic views of glacier moraines and towering Himalayan peaks.

Duration: Full-day exploration (3–7 hours hike depending on choice)

Highlights: Sunrise view from Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or Tserko Ri (4,984m), local Yak Cheese Factory, ancient Buddhist Monastery.

Details: Take an early morning excursion to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or the more challenging Tserko Ri (4,984m) for a panoramic 360-degree view of Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and Mt. Shishapangma in Tibet. Head back down to the village in the afternoon to visit the century-old Kyanjin Monastery and tour the local Swiss-supported Yak Cheese Factory to sample fresh Himalayan yak cheese.

Distance & Duration: ~21 km | 6–7 hours trek downhill

Highlights: Rapid descent along the Langtang Khola, alternative views of the alpine valley.

Details: Begin your return journey retracing the path downhill through the high valley. Descending with higher oxygen levels makes the walk easier, taking you back past Mundu, Langtang Village, and Ghoda Tabela. The trail re-enters the dense subtropical forests before reaching Lama Hotel for your final overnight stay in the upper trail area.

Duration: 2–3 hours trek + 6–7 hours drive back

Highlights: Final leg through lower forest trails, river crossings, scenic drive back to Kathmandu.

Details: Complete a final morning downhill walk from Lama Hotel through Bamboo and Rimche to Syabrubesi. After lunch at Syabrubesi, board your vehicle (jeep or tourist bus) for the scenic return drive along the Trishuli River highway, arriving back in Kathmandu by late afternoon.
